Already with Xfinity or Comcast and wondering why your internet bill is higher? A promotional discount may have ended, a payment or bundle discount may have changed, or another charge may be affecting your total. We'll help you understand what to check and compare eligible next steps, whether you keep Xfinity, change plans, or consider another provider.
This is a bill-review and internet-plan comparison service, not Xfinity or Comcast customer support. We cannot view or change your Xfinity account.

We review the information you share and available offers; Xfinity controls your current account and bill adjustments. Pricing varies by provider and location, and taxes and fees are extra.
Sky Select is an independent telecom comparison and enrollment-assistance service, and an authorized reseller and marketing partner for select providers. We are not Xfinity, Comcast, or any other internet provider, and we compare offers from participating providers, not every internet plan in the market. We can't access, change, or lower your existing account. We review your bill with you by phone and talk through new service that may be available at your address. We may receive compensation through authorized dealer, partner, referral, affiliate, or enrollment relationships, which is how the review stays free. For billing disputes, payments, outages, or technical support, contact your current provider through its official website, app, or the number printed on your bill. Advertising Disclosure.
A higher Xfinity bill can have several explanations: an introductory offer expired, an eligible discount stopped, the regular plan price changed, or a fee or other service charge appeared. The fastest way to narrow it down is to compare this bill with the last one and find the exact line item or promotion that changed. Not every increase is recurring, and not every customer needs to switch providers.
These same checks also help if you're reviewing a bill from another home-internet company.
Compare this month's total with your previous bill and note the line that moved.
Look for expired promotions, lost discounts, equipment or add-on charges, and one-time fees.
Find the ongoing price and any upcoming expiration dates, so the next jump isn't a surprise.
You may not need to switch providers to fix the problem.
You don't have to guess what caused the increase. Compare two recent Xfinity statements and look for the specific charge or discount that changed.
In the Xfinity app, sign in to your own account, go to Account > Bill details > Bill history, and open the current and previous bills. Menus can change, so Xfinity's official bill-viewing instructions (opens in a new tab) are the source of truth.
On Xfinity's standard bill format, the "Your bill explained" section helps show what is different from an earlier bill. Look for a plan change, partial charges, recurring charges, or an adjustment that only affects this statement.
Look for "My Xfinity services" in the detailed bill. Xfinity explains that this area can show recurring services, promotional discounts, and when those discounts end. If an offer expired, note the date and how much your current recurring total changed. Statement layouts can differ, so page positions may vary.
Separate unpaid balances and one-time charges from the recurring internet cost. If you use Xfinity Mobile or TV with your internet plan, check those related charges or discounts too before making a switch decision. Xfinity's next-bill estimate (opens in a new tab) can help with planning, but it may exclude charges that appear on the final statement.
Don't share your Xfinity password with us. You can read out the relevant bill lines during a review. Read Xfinity's guide to understanding your bill (opens in a new tab).
Xfinity customers often start with the same question: "Did my promo end, or did something else change?" These five checks help you tell a permanent increase from something you might be able to correct. They also apply to other internet providers.
What changed: A promotion or discount reached its end date, so your recurring charge now reflects a different rate. Providers rarely call ahead to say so.
Xfinity check: In the detailed bill, look for the promotional discount and its end date. Don't assume all Xfinity plans have the same promotional term; newer plans may work differently.
Best next step: Confirm your ongoing price, ask your provider what current-account options exist, and compare eligible alternatives over the same period.
Does switching help? Sometimes, if the full cost and service fit are better.
What changed: Your recurring service price or package is different even though no promotion expired. Older plans can also be priced apart from what new customers see.
Xfinity check: Compare "Your bill explained" and the detailed service lines. Make sure you are comparing the same speed, internet service, and any connected TV or voice services.
Best next step: Verify what changed, whether it was announced, and whether a more suitable current plan exists.
Does switching help? Possibly. Check availability and the whole-household cost.
What changed: Autopay, paperless-billing, multi-product, and other discounts can end when account terms are no longer met, or when a bundled service is removed.
Xfinity check: Confirm that your payment method and billing settings still meet the discount terms for your specific plan. Xfinity's published autopay guidance specifies a stored bank account, and card autopay doesn't qualify for that discount.
Best next step: Ask your provider whether eligibility can be restored and when the benefit would reappear. That's a call to them, not to us.
Does switching help? Often not necessary if the discount can be restored.
What changed: A legacy equipment charge, extra Wi-Fi service, streaming add-on, or another optional service may have lifted the total.
Xfinity check: Confirm whether your plan is legacy or newer before assuming an equipment rental applies. Xfinity says newer Internet plans include equipment and unlimited data, while legacy plan terms can differ.
Best next step: Identify which extras you actually use, which are optional, and what happens to any bundled prices if a service changes.
Does switching help? Maybe, but only after comparing what's included.
What changed: A past-due balance, installation charge, partial-month adjustment, late fee, or data overage on an eligible older plan can temporarily raise the total. Taxes and surcharges also vary by city and state, and TV bundles may add a broadcast TV surcharge.
Xfinity check: Separate the "amount due" from the regular monthly service charge. Data-overage policies don't apply to every Xfinity plan or location.
Best next step: Check whether the line recurs, ask your provider about any disputed charge, and compare future service costs.
Does switching help? Not necessarily. A one-time problem, or a fee that would follow you anyway, may not justify switching.
The goal isn't “switch because the bill is higher.” It's “identify the cause, then compare the best realistic next step.”
Not sure which one it is? Read us the line items and we'll help sort it out.
Call for a Free Bill Review(888) 728-1255If you're on an Xfinity plan with an introductory discount, the amount you pay may change when that offer ends. But a higher bill isn't always a 12-month promo cliff, and not every current Xfinity plan follows the same pricing structure. Check the discount terms on your actual bill before assuming what happened.
Older and newer plans can differ. Xfinity advertises newer Internet options with included equipment and unlimited data, and certain new-member plans with a multi-year base-rate guarantee (opens in a new tab). Those terms don't automatically apply to existing customers or legacy plans. Check eligibility and the full plan terms before comparing.
| What to look at | During the promotion | After it ends | What to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly rate | Introductory rate, often tied to a new-customer offer | Standard or everyday rate for the same plan | What is the rate after the promotion, with and without discounts? |
| Discounts | Autopay and paperless billing usually applied | Still needed to keep the discount; check they're still on | Which discounts am I getting, and what turns them off? |
| Equipment | Gateway may be included or rented, depending on the plan | Rental or extender fees can show up as separate lines on some plans | Is the gateway included, rented, or sold? |
| Price lock or term | Some offers carry a multi-year price commitment | A lock can end early if a bundled service is dropped | How long does the rate hold, and what ends it? |
| Taxes and fees | Charged on top of the advertised rate | Can change by location without a plan change | Which lines are fees, and which are the plan itself? |
General patterns, not a quote. Each provider sets its final price, fees, equipment charges, and terms, and they can vary by address and plan. Confirm your price with the provider before you order.
| Illustrative home-internet bill | During a 12-month promo | After the promo ends |
|---|---|---|
| Base internet price | $55/mo | $85/mo |
| Equipment rental | $10/mo | $10/mo |
| Illustrative monthly subtotal | $65/mo | $95/mo |
| Change from introductory subtotal | — | +$30/mo |
Example only. These are invented figures that explain the calculation. They are not Xfinity rates, current provider offers, averages, quotes, or promised savings, and they exclude taxes, location-specific charges, usage fees, and one-time costs. In this example, an ongoing $30 monthly difference would amount to $360 over the next 12 months if the prices and charges stayed unchanged.
A cheaper internet price is not automatically a cheaper household bill. If you use Xfinity Mobile or another bundled service, changing your home internet may also affect an eligible multi-product discount or other terms. Include those effects in the comparison. Compare the total expected cost across the same time period, and avoid paying for speed or extras you don't need.
What will I pay after any introductory period, and when does it start?
Is the rate fixed, and which charges can still change?
Does the plan include the gateway or equipment and unlimited data?
What payment-method, paperless, and bundle rules must I meet?
What happens to my Xfinity Mobile or TV charges if I change service?
Are there installation, activation, cancellation, return, or overlapping-bill costs?
Do the download and upload speeds, data limits, and reliability fit how my household uses the internet?
The jump isn't a billing error, and it doesn't have to be permanent: fiber and cable networks are still being built out, so the providers available at your address today may not be the ones that were there when you signed up.
Set a reminder for the month before it ends. A call before the higher bill posts leaves time to compare, ask your provider for a better rate, or schedule a switch without a gap in service.

We start with the bill you have, not a pitch to change providers. The conversation is about identifying the increase and understanding realistic next steps.
Tell us whether you're with Xfinity/Comcast or another provider, what you were paying before, and what the latest statement shows. A recent bill or promotion date is useful. Account passwords aren't needed.
We look at what the bill suggests and talk through appropriate options. That may include questions to ask Xfinity about an account-specific plan change, or eligible offers available through our service at your address. We compare regular rates, equipment, possible bundle effects, and switching costs, not just teaser prices.
You might keep your current service, ask your provider about an adjustment, or choose another available plan. We explain the trade-offs. We can't change your current Xfinity account.
An offer that doesn't improve your situation isn't automatically the right recommendation.
The point isn't to change providers for the sake of it. It's to work out which option makes sense for your actual bill and home-internet needs.
Keep what you have
If the increase was a one-time charge, the price remains competitive, or an alternative doesn't fit your needs, keeping Xfinity can be a reasonable decision, and we'll say so plainly.
Change the plan, not the provider
You may want to ask Xfinity about a different speed tier, an account-eligible offer, optional extras, or a missing discount. Xfinity decides what changes and credits are available on your account, and we can help you work out what to ask.
Move, timed right
If another participating provider serves your address, compare the total cost, speeds, included equipment, contract terms, and any effect on your existing mobile or TV bills before deciding. Your current service should keep running until the new one works.
We'll help you understand the bill increase and compare the next step, not just the first-month price.
Monday - Saturday | 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST | Offers depend on address and eligibility. Savings aren't guaranteed.
You don't need to prepare a spreadsheet. These details can make the conversation more useful:
Your latest Xfinity bill, and the previous one if you have it (or a bill from your current provider), so the change is easy to spot. If neither is handy, the monthly total and plan name are enough to start.
Your current internet plan or speed tier, if you know it.
The promotion's expiration date, if your bill shows one, and the approximate monthly recurring internet cost, separate from any past-due balance.
Your ZIP code or service address, including any unit number, so availability can be checked appropriately. It can change building by building.
Any Xfinity Mobile, TV, voice, equipment, or add-on service that might affect pricing if you change your internet.
How your household uses the internet, plus your contract end date and early termination fee if you're under a contract.
No bill in front of you? Call anyway. We can start with roughly what you pay and who your provider is.
A note on privacy. For an initial review, don't send passwords, Social Security numbers, or payment-card details through an unsecured message or upload. If you later choose to place an order, the provider may require additional information through an appropriate secure process.
You're in control of the decision. We can help you understand and compare choices. We are not a replacement for contacting Xfinity about an account-specific billing dispute. For anything in the second column, use your provider's official website or app, or the customer service number printed on your bill.
It's reasonable to worry about paying two internet providers or losing service during a move. A short overlap can sometimes help keep you connected, but it can also produce two bills. The goal is to plan the dates and understand the charges before you switch.
Verify that the new provider can serve your address and confirm installation or activation timing. Where uninterrupted access matters, avoid cancelling the old connection until the new one is working.
Ask your existing provider about notice requirements, contract or early-termination fees, and whether the final billing cycle is prorated. A brief overlap may be useful to avoid downtime, but it isn't necessarily free.
Depending on your Xfinity Mobile plan and eligibility, removing internet can change a multi-product discount or a standalone mobile fee. Confirm the exact impact in Xfinity's cancellation details (opens in a new tab) before assuming how much the household will save.
Check Xfinity's current equipment return instructions (opens in a new tab) and keep the store receipt or shipment tracking. An unreturned modem or gateway is one of the most common reasons an old provider keeps billing.
Save cancellation confirmations and equipment-return receipts. Review the final bill from the old provider and the first bill from the new one for charges you didn't expect. Many providers bill a partial month plus the first full month in advance, so the first bill can look larger before it settles.
No service can promise zero overlap, zero downtime, or no final charges in every situation. A good switch plan makes the risks clear in advance.
Straight answers about Xfinity bill changes, what a bill review covers and doesn't, and what it costs.
Several changes could explain it: an older promotion may have expired, a payment or bundle discount may no longer apply, a recurring charge may have changed, or a one-time adjustment may have appeared. Compare the two latest statements and check the changes summary and recurring service lines before assuming the new total is permanent. The common causes are covered above in Five Reasons Internet Bills Go Up.
Xfinity explains that its detailed bill shows promotional discounts and their end dates within the recurring services area. You can use the Xfinity app to view current and past bills. Exact presentation can vary, so see Xfinity's official bill guide (opens in a new tab).
It depends on your specific account, location, current plan, and the offers Xfinity has available. You can ask Xfinity about plan changes or available discounts, but a new introductory rate or a new-customer offer is not guaranteed.
Check whether your payment method, autopay status, and paperless-billing settings still satisfy the discount terms. Xfinity's published autopay and paperless guidance (opens in a new tab) specifies a stored bank account for the eligible discount, and notes that certain changes can remove it. Check the rules for your account and contact Xfinity for account-specific corrections.
It depends on the plan. Xfinity says its newer Internet plans include equipment and unlimited data, and some older plans have different equipment or data terms (opens in a new tab). Confirm your exact plan, recurring charges, and eligibility rather than assuming every Xfinity household has the same fees.
It can. Depending on your mobile plan's age and terms, ending certain Xfinity services may remove a multi-product discount or change standalone mobile charges. Check your mobile account's terms, including Xfinity's cancellation details (opens in a new tab), before judging savings from an internet-only quote.
Not directly. We can help you review the information you provide, identify what to ask Xfinity, and compare eligible alternatives available through our service. We can't access or change your protected Xfinity account. Xfinity handles its own charges, adjustments, and current-customer offers.
Compare the price after promotions, actual speeds and reliability needs, equipment and installation costs, possible cancellation charges, and any linked mobile or TV costs. Sometimes a change with your current provider or removing an add-on makes more sense than switching.
The initial review is free and doesn't obligate you to switch. We explain available options so you can decide what to do, and we explain any applicable provider or order charges before you sign up. Nothing is added to your bill because of it.
No. Reading the relevant figures from your bill is enough. We don't ask for your account password, Social Security number, or payment details to review a bill.
Yes. The same checks apply to other home-internet bills. We talk through participating providers that may serve your address, including AT&T, Spectrum, Frontier, Optimum, Kinetic, and Brightspeed, depending on what's built where you live. Not every internet company or offer is represented, and final availability depends on your address.
Possibly. Review your contract, any early-termination provisions, the final billing-cycle policy, and any rented-equipment return requirements before placing a switch order. Plans and bundles differ, so check the terms of your own account.
For billing changes, payments, outages, or technical support, contact your current provider directly through its official website, app, or the number on your bill. This number is for reviewing your bill and comparing new service.
The federal Affordable Connectivity Program ended in 2024. Some qualifying households can receive a Lifeline discount on eligible phone or internet service.
